As founder and CEO of MaxwellO Dental Spa and Wellness, CareerSmiles Institute and CareerSmiles Inc., Dr. Letitia Plummer knows the importance of a beautiful smile. Dr.Plummer graduated from Spelman College in 1992 and continued her dental education from Baylor College of Dentistry.
At MaxwellO we have been creating beautiful smiles since 2000. Our mission is to provide our clients with comprehensive dental and periodontal education, treatment, and in a relaxing environment. Your complete wellness is our responsibility from monitoring blood, oral cancer screening, diet counseling, evaluation and treatment for sleep apnea, tracking any signs of diabetes and auto immune disease just to name a few. Dr. Plummer recognized the need for proper dental care and education for the elderly and is currently the exclusive dentist for Regent Care Center in League City and Friendship Haven Center in Friendswood.
CareerSmiles is a nonprofit dental organization established in 2001. We provide dental education and services as well as financial assistance for low income adults to enable them for job placement. The successes of this venture have even been noted by all the major TV stations and the newspaper in Houston as well as CNN-Headline News.
Through her work on the advisory board of the Texas School of Business, Plummer saw first hand that highly capable students were getting passed over for jobs because of gold dental work in the front of their mouths, which had a negative effect on the appearance of professionalism. Plummer grew up learning about dental hygiene and the importance of dental health. Her father is a dentist in the Houston area, and Plummer spent many an hour as a dental assistant. Through her experiences with dental health, Plummer recognizes that it can directly correlate with self-confidence. Improved dental health usually improves personal appearance, which can then change a person’s attitude for the better; and in the case of CareerSmiles, improved dental health can improve chances of getting a job. Plummer has done extensive training in cosmetic dentistry through continuing education and is certified with Invisalign, in addition to pursuing a fellowship with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. "I honestly love creating beautiful smiles," she says. "A smile truly exudes confidence."
Plummer is a member of the American Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists and the Dental Health Task Force in 2001. She is a member of the Public Health Committee for the Digital Equality Alliance and Chairman of the Dental Committee for the Houston Wellness Association. She served on the advisory board for the Texas School of Business 2001-2003 and the National Institute of Technology where she served as a consultant and instructor for their dental assisting program from 2001-2003 and Commencement Speaker for the 2003 graduating class.
